50 years ago today, one of the greatest albums of all time was released. "Dark Side of the Moon" (1973) is one of the best-selling albums of all time. Its influence on music, musicians and the world is unmatched. It is one of the definitive prog albums. Many people can recognize the album cover even if they have never listened to the album. Dark Side of the moon is a perfect album from start to finish.
The origins of the album are interesting, and I don’t think the band ever thought it would be as big as it became. It also marked a shift in Pink Floyd's style of music, but the newfound fame also created new conflict within the band. In my opinion "The Darkside of the Moon" (1973) to "The Wall" (1979) is one if the greatest strings of back-to-back album releases by any band. All the albums between "The Dark Side of the Moon" (1973) and "The Wall" (1979) are perfect in my opinion. I've been waiting years to finally publish my website, working on it as a hobby here and there and I am so happy that this milestone for prog gets to be my first official article/blog post.
